For multiple reasons I have always stuck mainly with J.I Case ( Jerome Increase Case ) tractors. I like and respect the history of them all, but Case has been my mainstay for over 20 yrs now of tinkering with vintage tractors. I own the 1st tractor I was associated with as a child now, and hope to do a full tear down and restore in the next couple years.

If you get on YouTube, you can probably find the episode of “Lassie” called The Tractor, in that episode grandpa won a tractor at the fair I believe it was. When they delivered the tractor, it was a “roundnose Case” only made for 3 years. I have one of those tractors and have the engine apart to repair. Some used a transmission called “Triple Range”. The triple range was basically a 3 speed transmission that took place of the “Hi & Lo” range found in most other tractors.
With triple range you had 12 forward speeds, and 3 reverse speeds, versus the normal 6 or 8 forward of most other tractors. Of course others came out with their version also to obtain more gear selections for versatility.

Here is some reading below to the history of the Case mascot......

We ended up getting under bid. Happens a lot with a lot of independents that will run FL to CA for $1.50. We can't run for that.

I just don't get how these clowns think it's a good idea to haul, especially open deck freight, that cheap. One small claim, which is real easy to get with these loads, and you're paying them for the privilege of hauling it.

It’s one of 2 things I own that my wife has no clue about me owning, I drug it in from Hopewell, Virginia a good spell back lol. It is in its original work clothes with the writing still visible on the sheet metal. With a 4 speed transmission and a 3 speed range selector they were pretty nice. Built from 56 to 58, and with live PTO and live hydraulics it was new technology for Case compared to the VA series. They were referred to as a 300 Roundnose....

    Same age as me.!
What would the "300" be referring to?
So, with the motor running the pto would be turning, or only when it's in gear

The “300” would be a series of tractor. Actually one of the 1st ( number series ) Case tractors was the 500 diesel in 1953. Everything before was letter series.... V, VA, SC, CC, DC, LA.

The live PTO on the 300 comes from being able to stop the rear tires with the hand lever on the left of the torque tube, and the PTO continues to turn.

The foot clutch operates both PTO and rear axle, but if you are brush hogging and want to switch gears, you simply move the hand lever on the left, which disengages the transmission but not the PTO. Hope that makes sense lol.....

there are 3 levers in front of the seat... left is for snap clutch on transmission, center is 4 speed transmission, right side is 3 position range selector..... the taller lever in the pic on right is snap clutch. My tractor is same as the 311.....

I vow to never go anywhere near a grocery warehouse again. 8 hours to take 9 pallets off and then charge $247 for the lumper fee. I guess 75/hr detention makes up for it though.

After 5 years of driving this was my 1st time ever dealing with a com check or whatever (not really i used my bank card cuz the broker was sleeping like a normal human being at 4am) but 1st i said I'll do it. Big mistake, gave me the ole foot powered jack. Got 1 pallet out, the lightest one. Couldn't move the others off the plate. Walked over to grab a real pallet jack and they're pass code locked. Went back to the clerk looking like an idiot saying ill take that lumper now lol. 8pm to 5am. Thats my time it takes to do my north bergan and back
