Not So. You must, as a CDL driver, register, log in and add your CDL # and state and personal information.
If you don't, a prospective employer will not be able to send you a Drug background querie regarding
any previous application to a prospective employer where you failed or refused a DOT required drug test.

Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse - Clearinghouse Registration
You, as a driver, must register you personal information, and CDL, in the system.
A prospective employer will send you a query for your Drug and Alcohol background from
previous employers. Once you are registered, you can check your "account" via the log in page
    at :
    login.gov - Welcome
The FMCSA has mandated 01/06/2020 as the date to log in and get your account set up.
Expect the usual red tape on the registration page and the "add CDL " information page
in the upper right corner box. Click that link and it will take you to the CDL registration page and will ask you to confirm the registration. Print out every page you go to,if possible or " print to file". You may need it to confirm your registration.
Good Luck drivers, company or O/O!

You only need to worry about it when you are going to be getting a new job in a DOT safety sensitive driving capacity.

Roger that..or as an o/o or employer, you can see the Faqs page. Anyway, the registration page will pester you with emails to make sure you have the cdl information in th system. I had to keep going in.System must be swamped as
I kept getting emails about my cdl # not being in the system.print every page or print to file.Minevsays success, you are registered and yet I received another email saying I was not yet registered on the cdl # portion. Go figure.

This is incorrect. Carriers are also required to do annual queries in addition to preemployment.

Anyone wanting to confirm their information fully registered can PM me with their CDL # and state. I’ll check and reply with a confirmation

Annual queries can be the limited query, drivers don’t need to register for them. The employer can just have the driver sign a written consent form.

Correct, sorry I didn’t read the post before yours. I thought you were implying preempl was the only requirement.

I was trying to pull up a query for the last few hours as an employer/owner. I couldn’t. The gateway was lost in the process, or the CDL number couldn’t get verified.
It is not possible to be compliant when their system crashes down or doesn’t work.

What I do not understand is the first inquiry done on myself came in a letter from the FEDS with the Carriers name on it , it stated that if I didn't register my , CDL would be suspended.
So if you are applying for a new job and are not registered do yourself a favor and register now.

My husband is owner/operator. Recently, he received the MC number. I am registering as an employer and trying to pull out preemployment query.
