I was reading on the TMC fac website that you would need Hazmat, a Passport, and a Twic card. I already have my hazmat and passport, but I just read about the TWIC card a few minutes ago, I am curious if any of you guys were able to start training classes without it? It looks pretty expensive to obtain. I am doing the pre-enrollment on-line now. I just need to know if it is a requirement to walk in the door of training?

Just as other professions require tools of the trade, Professional truck drivers are no different. After reaching 30 days in your own truck you will be required to begin the process of obtaining a Hazardous Materials endorsement on your Class A CDL, a Passport or Passcard and a TWIC Card.

TMC transports a very limited amount of hazardous materials, but because of this you are required to obtain this valuable endorsement. Each State is different so you need to contact your State's Department of Transportation for specifics.

TMC also transports freight into and out of Canada, so you will be required to obtain either a U.S. Passport, or a Passport Card (PassCard). You need to have a certified copy of your birth certificate and it must have the raised seal.

Finally and most importantly is the TWIC card. In order to gain access to U.S. Ports you must have a Transportation Worker Identification Credential. You can begin the pre-registration process at the above link.

the thing that sucks besides the 130 somthing is you have to go to a port to pick it up. the closest one for you(and me) is gulfport maybe new orleans

I wonder how many new hires are going to waste their time, effort, and money on these required things and not even make it 6 months.
My guess is a friggin' lot.railtruckdriver853 Thanks this. -
The TWIC is 130+ , But I heard that you can get a discount If you get hazmat first. Does anyone know if that is true?
