True but a rollback capable of toting a 6000 pound pickup should be under hauling an aluminum van body that is maybe 1,500# heavier...that body can't weigh all that much and still fit on a single axle roll back.
my non CDL freightliner weighs 15,827#
my two CDL sisters weigh 15,984# and registered for 33,000#
all 3 are 2019 trucks w/ 102" wide bodies. 26 ft long.
Over 10,000 and under 26,000 out of state

First how high is that body.
Add that to the rollback deck and it needs to be less than 13.6 ideally.deathB4decaf Thanks this. -
I made sure it was under height and all other specifications.

One last question, how much does your rollback manual chart weight tell you can put on that deck?
Is the body less than that weight?deathB4decaf Thanks this. -

Need medical card and log books, for sure.
Never done this since the medical card is now linked to the CDL. He'd have to make sure to carry the short form with him, I would expect? -

Yes, sir. The Feds define any vehicle over 10K that crosses state lines as a commercial vehicle. So med card, log book, IFTA, DOT#, vehicle annual inspection, and maintenance file.

Sorry, I usually only work with the over CDL so this one is super awkward for me. -
Yup, on duty driving. If you don’t have a basic understanding of the Hours of Service requirements and maximum driving, on duty, and minimum rest requirements, be sure that both of you read up enough to have a working understanding.
And if he needs a log more than 8 out of 30 days, the truck needs an ELD.deathB4decaf Thanks this.
