Hi everyone new guy here... I'm looking to get into truck driving at 57 years old. I've had some problems with my driving 30 years ago or longer (DUI) I know that most the companies only go back 5 or 10 years. My MVR is clean with nothing on it. I haven't had a ticket since then either (and no I haven't been locked up for the past 30 years) On a lot of the applications it will ask if you've ever had a DUI should I just say no since it's not listed ? Or will they find out some how ? Anyone with any sugestions??
Definitely DO NOT LIE. Answer yes and under the explanation put down the year it happened. Most companies don't care as long as it's more than 7 years ago. NOBODY cares if it's 10 years or more. If it's multiples, they might take a look at it, but it will not likely disqualify you, but if we are talking about 30 years, I wouldn't worry. I had a suspension (no DUIs) in 1979. I disclosed it and nobody even asked about it. They don't care if it's that old. The general rule for most companies is: No DUIs, reckless, etc in the last 7 (sometimes 10) years No moving violations in the last 3 (sometimes 5) years and some even allow 1 or 2 if they're minor.
Well if thats the case I'm alright . I just wanted some opionions\feedback on this subject. Thanks for yours
As I have been dealing with a pending reckless charge and have called most of the major company's out there they have all told me 5 years on DUI and reckless. I think you are fine at 30 years.
