The company I work for also uses the drive cam to monitor speed violations. They use a "reliable" national speed limit database to match your speed with that of the database. If you exceed the speed limit, it registers it and sends the incident to the carrier. I got a call from safety for driving 1 mph over speed limit while driving through hilly stretch of highway. I have now been disqualified from receiving my quarterly safety bonus. I can see how these cams will pay for them self.
Got my camera installed this week. Takes some tiime to get use to. I keep thinking someone is watching me all the time. Maybe I will get use to it soon.
You won't get used to it...you will learn to deal with in a professional manner...then realize you can move on to a better job.
For now. In a few short years every dang truck on the road will have a camera in it. Insurance companies will say it costs 1000 to insure a truck with a camera, and it will cost you 10,000 to insure your truck if you don't have a camera. Every truck on the road except a two truck operation from the like of Billy Bob's outlaw trucking company with a confederate flag on the front will have a camera in it.
