GPS jammer?

Let me first by saying I work for one of the mega carriers out there. I am on dedicated account, for a rookie like myself I do alright with reputation my company got. Well, couple days ago right after my home time, I got sent to major city for my 4 stops. I use rand McNally gps. Well, anyway, I got my load, and I relized I have no signal on my gps, even my Qualcomm was saying "keep paper logs" cause it wasn't registering my hours. It's was clear and sunny outside, there shouldn't be any problems finding satellites. From that point, I had to use a map, because both of my gps were down. Even my brand new phone was having issues. That day was a nightmare for me, cause I go to Walmart stores and its hard to find it on the map. So, ok I get done with my day, go to bed, wake up with a new assignment, and it's like never happened. All of my devices were catching signal and working. So, my question is, did my company just tested my map reading skills or there was an issue with it?

You should be able to get paper maps from dispatch to each stop for back up

 

I have directions to each store, but my gps makes my life much much easier. I need to know how to prevent this in the future.

There were sunspots that caused problems, and also created the big auroras that many folks took pictures of.

 

Your company may be able to disable your Qualcomm but not your GPS or cell, I'll bet there is a logical explanation for the interference.

 

Sucks when you are reliant on technology...then it doesn't work. You would be surprised how smart you are if you stopped depending on all that crap. Keep your chin up and eyes moving there is so much you are missing.

 

In the future line the entire inside of your cab with tin foil when you go to sleep. This will prevent them from getting to you

 

You need to quit depending on your GPS.There will be many times its going to go out and during the most unopportuned times.Before starting any trip,you need to plan your route from an atlas then go to the blow up map of the city and write down your route and double check it.Calling the customer before you start your day is a good idea too.GPS is a good tool to have for when your close to your desination and don't miss your turn.But planning routes at least look at your Atlas to make sure there are no no truck routes, low bridges and if the GPS matches the route in the atlas.
