gps question

I did the search, I just cant find anything having to do with Gps.
what I wanted to know is, what kinds of GPS systems do yall use besides the book maps?

 

I use the garmin nuvi 350. Double check it with the map and directions from the shipper, receiver.

 

I have a NUVI 350 that I used while my Ique M3 was in the shop getting fixed. I have played with the TomTom as well. Me I prefer the Ique. I have had the unit for over a year now and its been sent back to Garmin to be fixed. They just sent me another one, and gave me a free map upgrade. I like the fact that I have all the navigation infor on the same screen where as on the Nuvi you have to puck buttons to see your speed and other things. The one thing I like about Garmins over the TomToms is that Garmins have the option to route for trucks and tomtom doesn't.

 

I bought a garmon 7200 street pilot.I also put a 2 yr warranty on it. I figure technology changes so much that if I have a major problem with it I should be able to apply my purchase price towards a new one. At least I can get upgrades for it.This has a much larger screen so it don't clutter up so much as a smaller screen.I also have the XM radio with weather information and it will route you around traffic. To do that you need a $200 antannae plus pay a monthly service fee. After a I pay it off I will buy the antannae and the service. I did buy it on sale for $800. I figure after I get a job driving it will pay for itself in fuel savings. I bought it at Circuit City hope this helps.petesout

 

I did the same thing but with a tomtom 510. Just double checked routing to make sure it was truck friendly and the best way to go. GPS can send you to some places that you don't need/want to go.

 

Now, I don't know if this is a Laptop problem, Microsoft Streets and Trips Problem, CB Power problem or GPS problem.
Basically, it takes forever to find a signal, then, if I key up my CB, it drops it like a hot potato. Doesn't matter if it is barefoot or running with the fire in the wire, I can't seem to keep a signal. This is Microsoft ST&T '07 with an aftermarket GPS antenna. I know it did it with the original antenna too. Any thoughts?

Yes, it very likely is interference from your CB. It shouldn't be too difficult to correct the issue, though. Move the GPS unit away from the CB. The GPS receiver actually may not necessarily be the one picking up the CB signal, it may be the USB cable running from it to your laptop. Try to move the cable away from the CB. Or if the CB has its antenna cable running alongside of the GPS USB cable, they may need to be separated.

By the way, Microsoft released Streets & Trips 2008 recently. It doesn't realy have any interesting features to talk about, but the 12 month newer map data may be of interest.
