Inverter Question

Ok wife and I will be driving teams. Obviously a great way to save money on the road is to have fridge, microwave etc on the truck. One of the companies I'm considering doesn't allow inverters to be installed. They do allow cigarette inverters but someone said it is a 100w max. I'm very ignorant when it comes to watts needed to operate equipment. So is it realistic to power a fridge and a microwave off of a 100w inverter. The more info you give me the better. This isn't a company bashing thread. So please stick to subject at hand. This is not my only deciding factor when I choose a company but it does play into it.

 

100 watts is a standard light bulb. I use a 300 watt just to run my cpap. Microwaves can easily be 500 - 700 watts. Don't know about a fridge.

 

A microwave is close to 700 or more watts. I have a 1500 one installed on mine and every blue moon it will trip since have fridge Xbox microwave and all that running off of it.

 

100 watt will run a laptop.. nothing more.. ive run up to 400 watt inverters that peak around 750/800 watts for the same purpose.. from a 12 volt plug in i wouldnt hook up much more then one item.. a cell phone if needed.. some companies will allow a larger inverter if the driver signs a wavier.. it means they wont send out some one for jump if you run out the juice..

I go thru three inverters a year with daily use .. they a cheap in quality..

Are you talking about cigarette inverters or just inverters in general

 

12 volt power supply.. they can get warm enough to shut down in 1 hour
