Hi Guys I'm new to this forum, working on a C15 mbn motor got the machined and 6 new uppers and 1 lower installed, put in liners, spacer gasket and new spacer plate and protrusion is 0.004 to 0.00045 across all liners. Now here is my question, should I get the thinner spacer plate and have 0.007 to 0.0075 liner protrusion? From what I read on the forums 0.004 is too low for a 600hp 7CZ file with a 800 hp marine cam. The mechanic that's working on this motor thinks it is okay with 0.004 protrusion because it falls within cat specs, he had also thought it would have been okay to an inframe without machining block, and it ended up getting machined 0.008 to get a proper deck. Any help or info is welcome. Aaron

Thanks I have noticed Bruce at Pittsburgh says it would be okay, I was hoping to hear from guys that have done so with good results.
with less than .0005 difference in all measurements - 4 on each hole- that is a really nice and square setup with a very even gasket crush. I vote to put the head on and start torqueing it down
I would go with a little more liner protrusion. Been my experience that the head will tend to lift or walk around a bit under high torque situations. My last c-16 did that until i increased the liner protrusion with a thinner spacer plate you get more crush and it really holds those liners tight and a good sealing surface. good luck. btw don't forget new fasteners
Yes new bolts and a new head too. I forgot to mention that the mechanic would have gone ahead with in frame without machining block, then I asked him to give a 500 000 km warranty on his job and he started to backtrack himself, so I removed the block from the truck myself!! I do NOT want to do this again!!NO WAY
Read on here several times some guys say .007 is too high and will crack the liners when you torque the head.
I just had mine done , I don't have a marine cam tho , I had the counter bores done new plate and shims looking at my work order my shims are .0324, counter bore cut .031 doesn't give anything on spacer plate
