What would you guys recommend I purchase so that I can replace flats on my rig. I seen some use cordless tools and I see others using air tools. What has been the best experience for some of you guys. Also recommendations for jacks and bead breakers?
I've used those push plugs in tires while out and then patch when back home. Gladhand air hose, plug kit. Ive used a jack but prefer to drive up on dunnage if possible to lift the flat tire. Main thing is to Try to catch a leak before it gets bad.
On the road or at home? On the road a plug kit and an air hose with glad hand end is worth alot. Need to catch it before you break the bead though.
I get my plug kits from fleetpride for use on the road, along with the tools mentioned above. The tools and plugs I have at home are just like what the truckstops use, also purchased at fleetpride. If you're running low on plugs you can usually give the tire guys at the truckstops a few bucks for a handful of them.
Had a half-inch wrench that I pulled out of one of my truck tires. I just double plugged it... But yes cutters work great..
Where are you getting all the flats? Breaking the bead is the biggest problem. On the farm, we used the outrigger on the backhoe. If your name is Jethro Bodine, you can get one of those bead breaker sledges, but unless you do a lot of tire changing, just take it to a tire shop.
