Okay guys and gals, we can all sit here and talk crap about what is probably one of the better companies out there, known for giving truckers who have a troubled career a second chance. FFE wont even look at an application if a driver has ever, EVER, EVER been terminated from another trucking company. Schneider won't hire you, CR England probably will but you'll be one of the "Every new guy leaves after 90 days club", sp TransAm will get you back on the road, where you can kind of work past the issues from other places and probably move on to another carrier.

It's not a bad trade off and in reality, there is no perfect trucking company. Everyone is going to pay what they pay, accept whatever freight they choose to, run whatever equipment they choose to, it's up to us to decide our priority which should be, earn money today or sit and wait for something that may not happen.

^I think that is the best way to look at TransAm. As a place to look at if you have a problem with your driving, employment or criminal record. The are a good SECOND tier employer.

Second tier as you have to put up with some of the same BS that you would with most any trucking company but TA pay and benefits rates are at the very lowest end of the industry.

I have never worked for Trans Am. The reason was that when we first got out of school our class took a tour of their headquarters. I talk to a person there who give me a real hi pressure sales job on their lease. From the start it seemed that anyone selling me anything that hard had to be full of something smelly. I past on the job. I also believed I would have lots of other offers. I didn't. Seems I didn't know how to actually drive a truck all I had was an idea of how to pass a DMV test. Maybe Trans Am would have worked for me. But I will never know.

If you choose to go to Trans Am go into with your eyes wide open. Do you know trucking? Do you know what to do in cold weather? I have talked to folks who believe they were given the keys and thrown to the wolves. Ask questions. Lots of questions. Use Trans Am as a learning experience and then move on if you are not satisfied.

What is best about Trans Am is that if you are headed to the Tyson Olathe plant, when you see their headquarters you know to turn right there in front of them.
