Just saw an ad for Trimac the other day, but they are not listed on the subforums. They make some big promises. Think they can back them up? Anyone have any experience/opinion on Trimac?

There is a member here named Ethos...he works for them...seems they do back it up.
-
My friend knows someone that works there. Makes good money but the shops suck.

Thank you! There's a lot of information on ethos' post. Seems like they are looking for the best drivers. Only the top of the class for students. After that, they want a minimum of 2 years tank exp. At least, that's what I've read.
Lone Bear Thanks this. -
From everything I have seen and heard over the years they are overall a good company. I have heard things about particular terminals now and then. But overall a very good carrier to run for. My guess is that they do not want to take student drivers, but they are starting to have a hard time finding qualified experienced drivers with clean records. So they are down to the dregs. Not meaning new drivers are dregs really, but they are unproven and unskilled. So it takes allot of work getting them really road worthy, which costs allot of money, and you have no idea if they will stay 6 months. Since most new drivers get out of the industry in less than a year, never to return. No matter how good the company is they are working for.
RackEmUp Thanks this. -
(Trimac requires a minimum of one (1) year Tractor/Trailer experience in the United States. However, if you have graduated from a PTDI or CVTA certified school, we will consider waiving the one (1) year requirement for exceptional candidates.) There is a list of schools that you can check on there website, I will not list them here, -
Yep. And thank you. My school is on their approved list. Gonna get my permit on Monday and schedule my class with the school. Hope to get there in about a month due to other obligations. I have a few companies on my list but Trimac is definitely up there. Thank you all for the info.

I just interviewed at their Louisville terminal. The manager seemed to be a straight up guy. All of the drivers I saw were of the age to have many, many, many miles under their seats. Their standards are high. The only reason I think they agreed to talk with me is that I'm an "older" guy, solid work history, with a spotless abstract. The training program is no joke as they make sure you know your ####, even before you go OTR with a trainer. I got depressed after I found out that there was no chance of me going Regional out of Louisville so I'll have to pass on the opportunity. Everything about these guys spoke professional, IMHO. Best of luck to you.
