Yep if you can even get hired on at a crap show operation you're kinda lucky right now. I'm up and down at the green fleet. Mostly just doing the stuff the old farts can't do on P&D like 500pc hand unloads of truck tires and working the dock. Some days I'm down to like 3-4 hours. We're all limited to 50hrs max. They're handing out write ups like trick or treat candy. But then you'll have a week of turning on your 10s and hitting 65hrs. It is just all over the place. Also, being able to move up is a big thing for me at least. At my terminal it takes a year of being on call, working 6 days a week, doing dumb dock bull ####, and crappy p&d extra routes before you can go linehaul. And only if a line guy retires or someone gets canned. I imagine UPS is probably worse than big green in this regard. Or you could go to Central Transport and be the top seniority driver in 5-6 weeks lmao.
It turned out that I got in at the right time. If you're not willing to team at a lot of terminals, you're not working. I wouldn't want to be on the bottom of some of these big boards out here.
