    Hello,
I am looking at buying a 1999 KW T800 and was wondering what year the engine is, that is
in it. The serial # is 5EK58151, the sticker says a 455 hp. But there isn't a year on it.

I was told by the person that rebuilt it last year it was dinoed at 450 hp. And It is stock.

Should it, or could it be turned up?

Any pros or cons on the engine, please feel free to let me know, as i am an old Big Camer,
    and looking to upgrade.

    Thanks in advance.
    Larry

That 5EK was built in August 1995. so at some point it was swapped into that 1999.
The 5EK is a solid engine, it doesn't have quite as good a block or cooling as the 1LW and newer cats for the back 2 cylinders but it does fine up to 550-600hp only time I really see issues is when guys are trying to push 700hp+ out of them.

5EK was famous for breaking crankshafts , change harmonic balancer once a year and they will go forever
