well this is interesting never seen this before, only thing i would check if first discharge line make sure it is not plugged if it is possible this could happen from compressor to air dryer also need to check if air dryer is working properly. nothing that can really be done with relay valve to have this effect on air compressor the only thing that comes to mind is plugged discharge line and compressor is trying to make to much pressure.

Thats exactly what they told me conpressor outlet was plugged, they sounded like they were trying to rip me off so i towed to volvo dealer but they are taking way to long, gear was bent so they gonna drop the oil pan and check rods and mains
why would compressor outlet bbe plugged on a brand new reman? -
It might not be outlet of compressor prob was discharge line to air dryer, that will usually get rusted out from time to time I usually try to make it a practice if I change compressor to change both discharge lines as well. But ive never ran into something like this all the time I’m working with Volvo so interesting problem.
