I’m assuming this performance bond is what they charge if you don’t run enough to keep them happy. Sounds like a slap retarded idea but I’m still sorta interested in AMT. does anyone know exactly how they charge if you “stay home too much”?

A performance bond is to protect the company in case you fail to pick up or deliver a load and they have to pay another truck to cover it or if you buy a set of tires or a repair and they help then you quit. It also is to pay fuel tax or anything else you owe after you quit. It has nothing to do with how much you work.

Ahh. Ok thanks. I just assumed. Guess I may jus need to call them to explain the deal with them charging drivers if they stay home too much. Thanks for the comeback. Figured I’d try to hear it from a driver first.

I was with them in the mid 2000s, they didn't care how much you stayed home. I am at landstar now, they will take back their trailer if you are using one after 10 days but they don't care about your home time. If you own your truck and are paid on a 10 99 they should not tell you how much to work or how much home time you can have.

Im at LS , like @jsnell - they hold a $500 escrow for any charges after you or they terminate the contract.

Odd name - performance bond - but I’d assume it would be the same thing.
