    There won't be any 38 hour weeks for you in the oilfield. Nothing but very long days out here. Especially if you want to make that money. There's money to be made for sure but nobody is giving any away. You will earn every penny. As for staying in the truck that is an option. Detmar, Western Flyer and Northwest all run sleeper cabs. If you go with Detmar you get a fridge and an APU.

    I worked in the patch and pipelining when there were still no rules. I’d hit 38hrs before lunch on day 3 when I was in a winch tractor.

    My dad has a paystub saved when he was doing cement 119hrs in one week. Lots of times he was on ot by Tuesday

    I haven't been on the forums in quite some time, but worked in the oilfield for around eight years, both South and West TX. There is money to be made as stated, but you will work for it. Yes, you can live in your truck if that's how the company operates. Good luck with finding a spot on the limited amount of truck stops. Yes, you can work a variety of schedules, 4/2, 5/2, 5/1...work three or four weeks and take a week off, usually whatever you want. Man camps can vary, drastically. Some are nice, some not so much. Some you have your own room, some you share. My first job in the oilfield I shared a single bedroom with six guys, Yes, six. Three bunk beds in a regular sized bedroom. Anyway, I would not work 1099, because at the end of the year you owe all those taxes and have to buy your own medical insurance. Why do that when you can be a W-2 employee and typically, if it's a decent company, have medical paid for by them. Anyway, hopefully some of this helps, but most has already been said. I'll tell y'all what I've been doing, the last year or so, if anyone cares, where I make more money than I ever have and 100% easier, and actually cool. I became an entertainer coach driver. We drive those fancy Prevost buses you see rolling down the highway, with musicians/bands in them. We stay at fancy hotels every night, we don't get dirty, we have catering at venues for breakfast, lunch and dinner, we also get per diem sometimes, and the industry standard pay is close to $450 a day. That's $450 a day, whether you drive or not. From the moment our buses leave the yard, until we roll back into the yard after a tour, it's $450 a day. On travel days, when we are "deadheading" and don't have anyone on a bus, therefore are not given a hotel, we get an extra $100. Typically they only require a Class B with a passenger endorsement, but you all have Class As and would just need the passenger, if you don't have already. Most companies are still hiring as after covid a lot of the drivers left and got local jobs as the entertainment industry shut down. Anyway, I've never made this much money and I'm writing this from a downtown Boston hotel suite and am about to go get breakfast. The jobs and money are there, you just have to get your foot in the door. My .02

    But aren’t those busses all cabovers ?
    Aren’t you sitting right in front of the steer axle ?

    Most of the members here wouldn’t drive a cabover even for $450 a day .

    I've heard those ridiculous claims before and I'll never understand, especially coming from an oilfield driver. All the dangers associated with hauling crude, or sand for that matter up and down a road like 285 or 72 in South TX and you're worried about your seating position, lol? OK. Keep slinging hoses and waiting to load, unload, whatever and I'll stay clean, eating free, staying in luxury hotels and making up to 185k a year, while driving the smoothest riding $2 million bus on the road.
