    That’s funny.
That section of hwy from the 607 stick to Loop 1604 keeps the local wrecker companies busy. I remember one day in ‘96 2 PTL trucks had jackknifed the exact same way about 50 yards apart at the same time in the center median at the 607 like syncronized swimmers. It was a dry cloudless summer day. Dot later found out the asphalt was slicking in a 500 ft long surface repair patch from the 100 degree temps.

Becareful around Trainer Hale Rd. Late at night. There is something about that area and weird truck crashes.

well, when you're oversized, you're automatically "special", which means you can park wherever you like in a fashion that suits your vibe at the moment.
Because, you're oversized. Because you're special.

    Lol.
He does have the oversize sign on the bumper. That is the same as the ”special” blue rearview mirror tag used to get all the choice front row spots. Right?

deleted after initial hate and then reconsidering it.

Well...if it is his break in the middle of a day where 100 other spaces are still available...not such a big deal. If it was a night time...then yeah... a jerk big time!
It is important is to see it in a specific context of a situation. Middle of a day...Other spots evidently available.
Maybe the guy went to shower or a toilet to relief himself. It is still better from being parked at a fuel island.

What if he had been running since 0430 and wanted to take a break at 0630 before jumping off the big road. He wanted to stop at the giant rest area two miles up the road but his pilot car insisted on a truck stop so he could get coffee?

@TallJoe. No hate here. My post was a joke. Even I would not be bothered by what he did. He did the set up like that to protect everybody and to give himself an out. Just like any smart defensive driver should. He is making sure everyone has the distance needed to maneuver safely.
Every trucker cries about not getting enough space from the 4 wheelers because of the size difference. Well it looks like he is bigger than me and needs the extra space.
He also obviously turned the tractor out of the traffic path because its obviously 10 ft longer than a normal otr combo.

I guess he coulda blindly wedged the truck between two other trucks and take out 2 hoods, stick out the 10 extra ft that everyone complains about with head in parked trucks so as to only use one spot like anyboby else woulda done. Lol!

But, I’m from that disappearing old school do whatcha gotta do and let the good times roll crowd.

Like I said, it all depends on a circumstance. In this picture you posted, it should not bother anyone until ... maybe dusk when more guys are pulling in to rest.

That looks like one of those expandable flat beds so who knows how long the trailer is set to but it's definitely longer than your standard 48ft 53 ft judging by the trucks around him . I've seem some dual axle flatbeds that can extend from 53ft to 90ft !

If he parked with the tractor straight , he'd be sticking out .. taking up the 3 spots plus the tractor angle ensures that he doesn't stick out AND also makes it possible to get out of the parking spot if the truck stop gets full .

I'd say that driver gets a pass

The only thing I can I say is maybe he could have just taken 2 vs 3 spots with a little better backing.

Other than that he looks as straight as my parallel earlier today. LOL
