And they do it all with only 6 months experience because they don't feel like they can learn anymore as a company employee.

    How little do they know.

Once I hit the road I plan on working as a mechanic for a few years then tmc for 2 to 3 years then pull the trigger and get my own authority and rig ect and if I know how to wrench on it I can save thousands every year. Most of the issues I've encountered on most trucks lately would have been prevented with proper PMs but these fools won't fix do jack ####. This ####ty prostar shakes really bad and has a check engine light. This same truck left us in a truck stop for 5 hours then after unplugging the speed sensor spent 4 hours at 50 mph and a annoying beep. The 1 truck I trust is out with a blown head gasket that should have been changed over 100,000 miles ago. None of the other guys give a #### about the trucks our tankers our dirty as hell. It's a 2nd job so.... I wana ask Chinatown if she could help us in finding a better week end job.

I agree, new trucks are good to have if the emissions system holds up. But if it dont then you still got that payment at the end of the month. And even though you have a warranty, the shop might take a couple weeks or more to repair it.

If you can buy a older pre 08 truck with cash and youll be in a better spot. Bank doesnt care if the truck isn't running or not they only care about gerring there payment.

I came to conclusion that without a proper skills, tools, place to work on it buying a used truck is a mistake. So is buying a brand new and doing load board loads, unless starting it with a $50K downpayment.

I gotta say that is a good idea but be ready to dump your savings or accumulate a lot of tool debt to get a solid box to keep you out of the shop and swinging wrenches on your own. That one is a catch 22 also.

ChevyCam, Fabulous Maximus and starmac Thank this.

Yeah,I've heard a lot of people say about 5k in tools, but even if I spend 10k that's still cheaper in a years time than all those labor costs being that it costs 100+ an hour for a shop. One shop charged us 150 just to come across the street to the truck stop and look at this ####ti prostar. Company paid us for that though.

I would plan on 10. You don't want to buy junk so it lasts. Buying good stuff pays for itself over time in reliability. Case in point my one tool box is a snap on kr7100, they stopped making them in the early eighties and it's still good.
