Anyone having gas filler doors on new Chevy trucks fall off during transport? Have had about 4-5 in past 2 months and 3 of them were nose first? Weird,,,Dealer is saying they only have had issues with ones that were transported(of course ) and they're coming after us to pay it. In our eyes its no fault of the driver or ours since what difference would it make being transported or being driven?
Thanks in advance,,,

Since it's happened multiple times for you, why not tape that sucker shut with some blue painter's tape?
justcarhaulin and Crude Truckin' Thank this. -
Is it possible that by being high up that the airflow goes under the box and pushes them open during transport ..

Good point? At an angle too? Hadn't really thought about that. Our main dealer has been taping them before our carriers get there but I hadn't really heard of it on any other manufacturers or from previous years.

My main reason asking on here is to see if anyone else has had the issue other than our carriers.
Thanks again for the time you took to reply,,, -
The tape should eliminate future issues.

I had a gas filler door blow off an Equinox going to a dealer in Missouri. He said to not worry about it and didn't bother to write it up as transport damage. He said they were getting them in like that so often they started stocking them prepainted in the parts department.

Haven’t experienced it on the pick up trucks but wow what a problem it was previously on the Equinox and Terrains. Talked to one guy that had lost 5 on an 8 unit load. I personally lost 2 of my first load.
Discovered it was the door latches. Whomever was putting gas in them, railhead or wherever, wasn't pushing in fully to latch the doors closed fully and unless you physically pushed on them to find out you’d never know it just looking. GM took the hit on them because it wasn’t a one off problem, but yeah those little covers are pretty darn tough to push so I can understand. NOT
