Running legal isn't such a bad thing, really.... Now Notarps4me, just be quiet for a minute :)... Work with me... l.o.l.
No running legal should be your #1 priority.. If you get in an accident (not your fault at all) & you have been running illegal in the previous 30 days & up to 6 mths that accident could be held against you in the court of law and cause you to spend time in prison if someone dies or possibly just loose your cdl for life, whichever I am sure you do not want to happen.. maybe not?? but anyhow running legal isn't so hard, and it's possible to make money doing it legal :). It takes good dispatchers to help you make money & a driver who wants to keep moving legally.

Ok that's my 2 cents. Now notarps come chime right in, it wouldn't be truckersreport without you.:biggrin_25513::biggrin_2559:

Try explaining that after you have tried it....:biggrin_2556: Big difference in driving a truck from a desk far far away and actually doing it.:biggrin_2556::biggrin_2556: when your 14 runs out between waiting for a load, loading, unloading and bouncing, you log legal 5 hours of driving... yep your right; plenty of hometime and money there...:biggrin_25512:

I know when I told the company I was going to run legal, the loads never were there.

Just remember, LogsRus says running legal, you can make money.:biggrin_25517:

Those that would work to run on the edge, they got the loads.

I have yet to find a company that the dispatchers really work with the drivers interest in their mind. They are only interested in the freight. Miles are figured without regard to the drivers sitting all day.

I do not believe that a driver can make money and not bend the books.

for about 1 month I have been running 100% legal and I have posted my experiences in another thread. I know the reasons for having to run by the book, I understand the consequences if something happens. But I am going broke! After taxes and my expenses on the road, I am lucky to see $450-$500 a week! That is not accecptable when you consider the knowledge and responseibility we must have in this job.
Your profile indicates you are in the industry but not a driver, I invite you to read my other thread and then give me your honest opinion. Would want my job?

jtrnr1951, RockyWI and notarps4me Thank this.

Then let the dispatchers understand the log book. Do not expect the driver to deliver the load when they have sat all day.
