I have a shot at a linehaul gig with Holland and I have a few questions.

    How is the equipment?
As a new guy, can I expect steady work or will it be hit and miss?
How long before I get full pay per the contract?
Do linehaul drivers work the dock and if so, how much?
Have there been changes to the pension plan?

    Thanks!!

Do not go to Holland equipment is over 10 years old over 3 millions on most. They work on 15% pay cut. Plus all vacations got cut by a week by this I mean if you had 3 weeks off you now only get 2 weeks. The pension is the worst you have to work 4 years to get one year credit. So if you work 40 years you get 10 years plus you don't get it till you are 65. Many old time men have left many are leaving as soon as they something better. It not good place be Plus they owe they pension fund over a billion dollars. The only good thing is the health insurance is second to none at no cost to you or family. It is really sad what YRC did to Holland and Roadway.

    How is the equipment?

    - They are bringing in new tractors, although the guys's with seniority I getting them. You could be in a Sterling, International, or Volvo. Depends on what your terminal has available.

As a new guy, can I expect steady work or will it be hit and miss?

    - you will average anywhere from 2,500 to over 3K miles per week. No control on how many you get.

How long before I get full pay per the contract?

    - you will be at full pay at year 3 anniversary.

Do linehaul drivers work the dock and if so, how much?

    - Yes, only have a bid that requires you to work the dock or your trip has you dropping freight in route. Bid drivers work the dock 2-3 hours give or take. Dropping freight in route is usually an hour as long as the freight has not shifted or poorly loaded.

Have there been changes to the pension plan?

    - easiest way to to explain it is work 4 years to get one year.

You are wrong about the equipment, pension, and vacation. And even on the 15% cut, plenty of guys at top rate are still making 100k a year here.
