Just curious. I'm most likely joining CFI soon but it seems they don't get out west too regularly.

Really just depends on the company and what they haul, some companies won't ever go there and they are the better ones. I never went to CA with CFI, but that's been awhile.

If recruiting says east of Mississippi that means east of I-95.
The only way to run west is get on with a carrier thats not permitted for the east.

I don’t see many CFI’s between Texas and the west coast. Maybe one or two the whole trip. Saw one headed west through Colorado on I-70 yesterday. Wouldn’t be unheard of to go west with CFI but probably not the best company for you if you want to run out that way.

When we were there very rarely did we go our to California, also in the 7yrs of being there went to Canada 4 times. They made a big deal about making sure to get your pass card but alot of times we went up to the Taylor,MI terminal and dropped the load and then they had one of the Canadian drivers take it the rest of the way because they didn't have enough loads for them. Same with alot of the Texas regional drivers, was in Laredo Hubs got a load to Forth Worth and one of the Texas guys they gave him a load to SLC, we tired to swap but they said no. From what I hear now from a friend is they do slip seat on Laredo loads out of Wilmer

Cfi is primarily a Detroit to Laredo company. I got the joy of delivering windows to several schools in San Francisco though. Was a good mile load that I picked up in Iowa.

I would say you get out there about a month or two throughout the year 3 months northeast 3 months in Canada and the rest is random luck of the draw.

Good place to see the country. You'll hit everything.

I highlighted to Hayward one time just to get out west. Don't know if they still do that or not but you can definitely get out west twice a month using the highlight system they got.

I would usually do Hayward Tampa Chattanooga Taylor or Tonawanda.

Because I knew I would get a load going where I wanted to run for the next week or two.

Plus if you do it on the other side of the country....they kinda have to get you the miles to get you there.
