    Dont need ice for serious injuries on a car hauler sometimes it's just a bad day. I remember that incident in florida a driver losing an arm.

    You'd be surprised how cheap some of those carriers are hauling those new cars. They're not worth messing with unless it's directly from the manufacturer.

    Thats a great question, Kevin. In my belief its all dependent upon what niche market you are going to capitalize on in the space. Different cliental require a different attitude, attention to detail, value added etc...Figure out what your niche is and then get to know everything there is to know about them and what they look for in a transport.

    Even new cars from manufacturers I hauled a load 800 miles $2500 9 fat units.
    Think about it and break it down it was like $55 dollars per thousand pounds for 800 miles.
    I paid $48 to ship 2 pillows to New York last week.

    Is the destination fee on new cars $900 so 9 cars should give 8100 i wonder who got the difference ?

    That's starting to show in the quality of drivers some of these low rent companies employ, but that's the case in so many trucking jobs that used to be performed by proficient drivers.

    Destination Fee is like most numbers on the window sticker (Monroney). The OEM makes them up loosely based on some reality they made up.
    The fee used to be the actual charge to deliver the the car to the dealer. In the old days the end customer could actually save that amount by picking the car up themselves.
    Then they averaged it so the dealer across the street from the plant conceivable paid the same fee as the one in Alaska.
    Then they really fudged it by including all the transportation charges, parts delivery etc.
    It's like a government statistic, the OEM makes it to be whatever they want it to be, nothing to do with reality.

    That's not going to get any better. One of the biggest carriers just took 7% and 9% cuts on 2 of the Big3 contracts at a ramp I frequent.
