So I'm currently working for a small car-hauling company. I currently make 1300-1500/week on 1099, no benefits, working insane hours and breaking my back.
I got offered a position as a combination city driver/ dock worker in the YRC Shrewsbury terminal.
The terminal here is teamster, they start at $18.24/hr, overtime after 8 1/2 hours worked, the manager said they don't promise hours, but I should work about 55-60 hours, free healthcare, paid overtime and a bunch of other cool benefits.
The downside is I'll start from the bottom and work the worst shifts and will make a little less $$$ than hauling cars.
The upside is I'll have a much better work schedule and have some more time with my family and really good benefits.
So what do you guys think?
Is it worth leaving the car hauling industry and going to an union LTL? What would you felows do in my shoes?
IS YRC WORTH IT????

Depending on your age and life circumstances the benefits alone would be priceless.
What's more important to you, a hundred bucks a week more or a solid retirement fund and insurance? -

Thanks guys, at first it definitely seems like the obvious choice.
How is the actual work like? -

If youre in the game for Stability and your Future, YRC would probably be a good choice. They have been around for awhile.

Looks like limited options in Shrewsbury.
How about Apollo Motor Express?
