    Hey guys & gals!

Just received my new CDL A Permit here in South Florida.

For the companies I heard about for going to school or getting paid to train within the company are Knight.

I've heard good things about Knight so I'll probably take that route.

I also heard about Werner, Swift(which is meh company) & Prime.

There any other companies you guys/gals recommend?

    hashcreed and Boondock Thank this.

Where are you in South Florida?
I'd pull reefers because South Florida has lots of refrigerated freight into and out of South Florida.

If you go with Knight, Swift, or Prime, also go with refrigerated division. This way you'll stay busy because food products move year round and doesn't matter if there's a recession or not, people have to eat.

    I'm in Fort Lauderdale.

Thank you guys for the requests. I'll be doing teams though since they pay abit more too.

All the companies I posted also use teams. Can run team or solo.

    Boondock Thanks this.

Go to Sage truck driving school in Fort Pierce.
    Course is a month long.

I would buy a KIA and deliver pizza’s before I went to any of those training companies.

    Boondock and TripleSix Thank this.

Guess what? Swift *is* Knight. They merged a few years back. So guess what that makes Knight? Meh.

And Prime is extra Meh, as they will pressure you into leasing in order to save them money.

Check with your workforce office to see if you qualify for an FOIA grant. That way your Uncle (Sam) will pay for the school, and you'll be free to hire on with anyone taking fresh CDL graduates, not just the bottom-feeders with schools and employment contracts. That will be worth much more than $600/week while in school.

Does Leonard's Express hire down that way? If so, getting schooling elsewhere and hiring on with them is a MUCH better option.

    JDMChris Thanks this.
