Those Stars were the cat's ### back before Daimler turned them into Freightliners. You couldn't beat the ones that came out of the Kelowna factory. Best of the best IMO.

Old thread, after ‘85 the cabs changed slightly and they raised them up a hair which gave the hoods a tiny slope in them. Western stars were looked over by most people. Some of the nicest most luxurious trucks back in the 70s to the early 90s. My dad has a 1985 All star edition, velour sleeper interior, even the mattress was velour. Had gauges and ignition and start button in the sleeper. It was a plush ride. Burgundy and grey button tuck interior. They were beautiful trucks! I had a 1985 also, wish I kept it! Went a few weeks ago to Hess Auction in PA tried to buy a 1988 4964 that was all in all pretty solid cosmetic wise, it went for $14,000 after buyers premium. I couldn’t beleive it.

I don't care what anybody says, given the choice between a 359 and a Western Star of the same vintage, I'd choose the Star over the Peterbilt without a 2nd thought.

Here’s the difference, the sloped hood didn’t have the body line, it was just flat.Might have only been 3” difference. Looking now, I see a difference in the cowl cutouts, and SS trim behind the wheel well, I never noticed a difference till now.
