I have stated the weaknesses I saw. If people there want to take a look at why teams are leaving ...Great. If they choose denial...great.

zmpart - and that record reflects what exactly? That you are obviously someone who works in the office and comes on whenever there is a need to defend watkins and shepard as evidenced by the very low post count over the past 4 years.

I'll let my record speak for itself: 2 years in membership - almost 2600 posts, 1600 thanks. oh and if you need further info just check my signature. Heed the advice of "Truckduo", They've been at this long enough they know what they're talking about - Chinatown Sept 10 2014. That's from one of the most respected guys on here.

Face it man, watkins and shepard is bottom of the barrel. it's a hair above CR England and they are the absolute rock bottom.

let's see what watkins offers drivers:
    1. very low pay (horrible cpm that is billed at TOP PAY hahahaha!)
    2. sloppy seconds trucks. even when they buy new trucks they are lemons.
    3. trailers that are so poorly maintained that drivers have to worry about getting DOT violations
    4. horrible benefits. god help you if you or your children are sick and you have to use that insurance
    5. terminals with dirt lots and huge potholes. welcome home driver. is it a terminal or is it a pigpen?
    6. team runs? only if you happen to be in the right place at the right time which seems to be something only those "in the know" are aware of.

What does this all add up to? Watkins and Shepard. Your destination if you want to go broke.

Watkins good: train with wife, good training and trainers at NC. The breakdown line gets answered quickly. Some of the office people are nice. What's bad: you make a lot of money for them while you get shafted on your pay and benefits along with dangerous equipment, poor miles, poor terminals and poor team runs.

One thing I found quite disturbing was at the Dalton, GA terminal. It was a bright orange outdoor portable toilet that they had sitting in the parking lot for drivers to use instead of using the indoor toilets. I never used the outdoors toilet but walked right in the office and used that restroom. The women that work in there gave me dirty looks, but they always had an unfriendly scowl on their face. Very unfriendly terminal for drivers.

But I want to add that we got to know the mechanics at the garage very well and they were a bunch of really good guys. One of them told us that he had refused to give a passing inspection for a bad trailer that was unsafe to use, and the terminal manager went on using the trailer for loads regardless of the bad condition of the trailer.

That porta pottie story from jungle drums just goes to demonstrate how much Watkins cares about their drivers.

why am i wasting my time with this i ask myself? i am sure many office employees wonder about parking in san diego or pulling fuses in volvos, or whatever i have spent the last 4 years asking or answering on this forum. Your record shows you either care a lot more about being popular on this forum, have a lot more time on your hand, or whatever, i am so happy chinatown has complimented you, i hope you have changed his opinion on watkins which he recommends frequently. It is so obvious to you that i am an office employee, but my drivers seat begs to differ. Have a fantastic and safe journey, i am done, i dont care to change your opinion and you arent going to change my. USX is obviously the height of trucking, and two years has clearly taught you all you need to know about the industry, so enjoy it!

Corporate knows about it and does not give a crap either. The terminal Mgr. In Dalton is very well connected to the carpet industry. Anything he wants goes. They don't like him, but if they lose him...they lose the carpet business. He says jump, they jump. If it screws the teams, so be it.

He wants truckers to use the portable toilets. .

Another totally different point is they based the fuel bonus on what mi./gallon a driver hauling light furniture on flat land southern runs made, not the heavy carpet hauling drivers runs which are crawling the countries highest mountains with weak motors.

Clearly two years is enough because its taught me to never work at Watkins & Shepard and that's all I need to know.
