So were these drivers simply taken from other carriers or were they unemployed CDL drivers?
So easily enticed to ditch their jobs and make a move just because their "recruiter" stood to make 1k one time?
Ruthless. I love it.
Quitting without a notice is a poor move

My last day he had me pull a local load and pass my tractor to my last student. He was always fair and easy to work with. When Landstar couldn’t reach anyone to verify my employment history they asked me for a phone number. I gave them my DM’s. He took the call gave me a glowing review and I was off to AZ. I still talk to him every few months. Until the beginning of this year he’d have his drivers call me so I could explain split sleeper berth or whatever to them.
There’s no way I could leave Felipe hanging. -

What I find funny about your comment is I could point out handbook rules being ignored on a weekly basis at Swift and nothing happened to those people. So my experience is a handbook is a very poor excuse for a company being more moral for firing someone than when an employee does the same thing.Last edited: Apr 18, 2021

I NEVER GAVE ANY NOTICE...
your employer NEVER GIVES you advance notice, that you will be fired, or even laid off, or the gates are closing for good.
it's, "every man for himself" in this cold, dark world we live in.
if YOU feel bad for YOUR boss, being with out a driver, then YOU are of weak mind, body and soul.
all you ever did in the past right here on this website, was gripe about YOUR problems at YOUR employer, and yet, you feel badly for him..???
how's bout you grow a pair, and face the facts of life....??
no one is OWED any "notice", or either quitting, or getting fired.
do you have a contract to work at your job?
do the other workers have an employment contract?
i think not...you like many others here, work for an "at will employer", in most likely an "at will state", and you deal with it.
you have to do more work? your co-workers have to do more work.>??
what's wrong with that..??? making extra money a problem for YOU to deal with...???
i swear, you come up with the most inane things to post about..
here's an idea....
YOU WORRY ABOUT YOU...cuz no employer is worried about YOU...!!!!!!homeskillet, Mattflat362 and JoeyJunk Thank this. -
Shows a lot about the character of someone who doesn't even have the courage to say something to some ones face. But that's the new way, text or e-mail. At least most of the employee's i've had would have no problem saying something first. -

sometimes, employers ignore the employee's, thinking it's just a BS claim.
sometimes, employee's get fed up.
sometimes, it's better to be an employee, rather than an owner, as in less responsibility or headaches
sometimes even good employee's get the shaft.
it's not all peaches and cream out there.
take off those rose colored glasses you're wearing.ZVar Thanks this. -
One is communication. That should always happen to try and work things out. But communication is a two way street. If the company has communicated that they don't care about the employee by past behavior than why should and employee be held to a higher standard?
The second issue is quiting without notice. Again why should an employee be held to a higher standard than the employer?
In both cases the standard should be the same.buddyd157 Thanks this.
