Broker sent rate con with del date. Company closed for Veterans day. Broker says 2 more days until it can deliver. Layover is $300, losing around $2000. What other recourse does the owners operator have??

    Bill em.

600 a day holding a big truck until delivery. Looks like three days lost and then some.

A reminder (And lesson to newbies) Any time you recognize a date at or near a federal holiday get it changed to a accurate and open day of business to deliver. Some brokers just slam through dates knowing you probably will learn that you will sit and thus maybe reject load and make it hard for him or her to find a truck.

Holidays are coming, I don't see any improvement in this.

Beer loads scheduled to deliver on sunday means it's closed and the date is invalid, dispatcher is usually told instantly to change that date because they are absolutely closed on Sunday. What are they thinking? Im not sitting around to baby sit such loads. They don't pay me for that. Not a dime.

I am going to add an Addendum to my rate confirmations that they will have to initial and date. This was a great suggestion by another blogger on this forum. Yes, been running since 2015 and still learning......

Yes another person made that suggestion and then some. Im still learning myself.

I have had two loads with CH Robinson that really angered me with it's SHEER botching, enormous lost time, lost payroll over nothing and frankly it's life changing.

I want three things with a load.

1- someone ready to unload the #### thing at the other end.
2- no waiting to load that usually means someone screwed up somewhere and it aint us.
3- Leave the phone alone, I am not a parrot drone telling you every hour if I am late or on time, in fact; keep calling me and you will be assured it's late. Stop it Mr broker, you should know better.

That third one is what usually gets them good.

Finally after all that, Pay me.

This sucks but you can avoid it next time. Always call deliveries unless you know them for certain! I always do. Running spot I deal with different brokers. Most are just agents and don't care at all or think about your loss of time when they say stuff off the cuff when selling you a load.
    Call the recip ahead!
