    Just looking for some feed back. I know this is the place for it. 😁. I've been out here for 8 months and just got asked if I wanted to become a trainer. Wtf. Just because I run hard, am a safe driver and know how to do paper work,does that really qualify me as trainer material. I mean I have only driven in one winter. I do all 48 even NYC ( only twice and don't care to go back). My backing is ok most days not awesome by any means. So let's have it, what's your opinion. Thanks

    Good companies have much higher standards to be a trainer. I hope you have an eye towards moving to a better company in the near future.

    First question who do you drive for? Second I think you're wise to question this.
    Does your company have a train the trainer program? I personally would not train. Because 1 I hate team driving. Two if i am going to get killed in a tractor it will be from me not some kid fresh out of school. Wish you the best.

    No...become an established safe solo driver and move on to a company that respects that.

    My nephew went to cdl school sponsored and paid for by Central Refrigerated (Swift). After 6 months running solo they made him a trainer. Amazing. How can someone who has not even driven a truck though every season train anyone. I mean like if I had never driven in snow and ice and here I am training you how to do it.

    Afew jack wagon companies come to mind. England, the big blue screw, central. All do this and it is deservice to the newbie. Plus with Werner after three months you can train! Yah buddy ain't that scary.

    I really like the company I drive for. They are good to me, and pay me a decent wage(enough to where I don't need to train ). They do have a 4 day training session for people that interested in becoming a trainer.

    The he guy that trained me had 5 years experience. Good trainer. The other drivers at my company are a great bunch of guys and very few goof balls. I mean that in a nice way.

    I just told them I need to do more research on it and talk with others.

    Im pretty sure I'm not going to because I feel I don't know enough to train and not sure if I want some yahoo in my truck. I didn't like training with my trainer and he was a nice guy. Just too small of an area for two men

    I was asked my thoughts on the same thing after only a year of driving. I refused. I explained to them that is a big part of the reason there are so many unsafe drivers out here today! I believe a trainer should have at least 10 years of experience, maybe 5 but they'd have to be 5 safe years. Too much is at stake when it comes to operating a CMV. And I agree completely with Clamhammer..

    One more thing. When I trained we never did team. I drove and he pretty much sat shotgun the whole 5 weeks. I think that is the way the my company trains new guys. I mean if the newbie gets tired or your on a "hot load " then the trainer would finish the day. Not sure if I would want to sit in the passenger seat for 5-8 weeks
