Hubby must have been running all loads illegal. So it seems to me that you have your hubby to blame for eld. If it wasn't for him and drivers like him the Megas would never have been able to push them on everyone.

But I'm glad to see that America is still quick to point at everyone else (in this case the government) instead of doing some self evaluation and asking "why have I been running illegally for forty years?"

The funny thing is everyone think they are good driver and they will never make a mistake so they should not have to follow the law. Why can't I work 90 hours a week I'm a safe driver ? Why can't I drive 85 mph I'm a safe driver?

It the same thing every time we live in a society and most people don't want you or me to drive 85mph or work 90 hours a week because they think it's not safe and if something goes wrong people might get killed or injured even if you had the best intentions.

People have the right to try and change any law they don't like. Remember when it was only safe for trucks to drive 55 in Ohio. Today it safe to drive 65, I'm just saying I don't think ELDs won't be the end of trucking. Some people will have to change the way they drive and make money. Who wants to work more then 70 hours a week anyway ?

Nope. Will never buy into it.

Human tells machine when to work.

Now the cart is going to be in front of the horse.

What I do have the utmost faith in, are my fellow truckers.
I emphasize truckers, not wheel holders.

Guarantee somebody, somewhere, is already working on the program / method to defeat the machine.

And I've got the craziest notion, you're not gonna find somebody posting on the Internet how it's done.

It will be like everything else. 25 years from now when everyone is doing it, and has the software, the authorities will be hip to it.

You will never strike all truckers. Herding cats I say. Always a percentage who will work.

Government Seizure of Property etc follow certain laws that have nothing to do with trucking and in fact as far as I am concerned protected by the Constitution. Unfortunately according to the published budget in our area there is a line item for seized property that is sold such as that taken from drug dealers etc.

ELD and Paper are one and same. I was at times in my life using several papers and got away with it for the most part. But it did not deliver the load any faster. You can be early somewhere and then burn a day and half a night unloading.

I think this whole thing will become rather moot after Im gone which is not too many years hence, where Ottos (Computer Aware self driving tractor trailers, no humans) run the USA freightways. Presto No more human truckers needed. What then? Eh? Those apples will be 10.00 a pound at that time from Washington State.

I understand you feel angry or put out that we have all these laws and want to do something. Sometimes I remember a small saying that used to be common years ago. If you don't like the game, don't play.

40 years you say is a long time in trucking. Maybe it's time you take up something else and enjoy what time you have together at home. It's a young immigrants game now. Not ours.

These strike callers have the cart before the horse. They're not savvy enough to know the order goes, 1. Union 2. Strike.

French drivers went on strike recently. They're unionized. Hmmm....

Still, I don't think it'll happen here. 'Murica don't cotton to Socialism.
