Hello, everyone. Next year, I'll be starting with Schneider on their Walmart account in the above location, and I'm wondering if anyone here has any info on what this account is like for my area, or any advice. I live a little over an hour away from the DC, and I'm only working weekends because I'll be going to college. So, it seems like a fair deal to me, though I'm not completely sure.

I used to run their loads once in a while for SNI, I was JC Penny dedicated out of Columbus. It wasn't a bad deal. Get the paperwork, pickup trailer, deliver to a few stores then return. The worst part was that the store employees unload while you stand there collecting tabs off each skid. They can go fast and they can go slow, you have no control. The deal was pretty decent. If you can get "only weekends" from them, that's a good deal.

The weekend thing is what the recruiter told me after she spoke to the fleet manager or whoever was in charge, so yeah, fingers crossed. Alternatively, it's one or two weekdays and one weekend day. The idea of doing all that backing made me a little nervous until I realized two things; the stores seem pretty accommodating to trucks, and I'm not much of a trucker if I can't do a little backing. The local guys probably have it worse.

    Anyway, thanks for the info!

The stores are usually setup pretty good but you'll be challenged by something. That's part of the gig. Just take your time and don't hit anything.

You would be surprised at some of our older stores, especially this time of year with all the storage containers.

Go slow, don't bend stuff ;)

As for the work it will be overnight most likely. Perishable loads do not start out gating until afternoon at the earliest.

They are desperate enough the weekend thing may happen. Weekends are the busiest time for groceries as well.

Yeah, Courthouse has flex drivers on the account... I run Walmart dedicated out of Wintersville Ohio...
Flex is part time... You"re supposed to work at least one day a week... If you average a total of 30 hours a week, you can get on the Health Insurance... I got 3.5 years in and I moved to flex... I live 7 miles from the DC in Wintersville and don't have to sleep in the truck anymore... When I was full time, I had to run a backhaul to Courthouse and then run loads at night out of there, the full week.... As said above, there are some tight dock stores... Some of the old stores are not set up for 53 footers... As trucking jobs go, if doesn't get much easier then this account... Just pulling stickers and I always have the different stores highlighted... They're not always in the order they are supposed to be in..... Good Luck...

I was checking out the Courthouse DC from satellite view. To me it looks like a tight fit, but the image on Google Maps is always distorted. How hard is it to get in and out of there? Also, can you tell me which stores, to your knowledge, are hard to get into? Any and all information is greatly appreciated. I want to do the best job I can.

DCs are fine. Age of the stores, location etc will determine how tight they are.

    And time of year.

Containers during peak, dirt and mulch in the spring can alter entrances. Grocery pic k up is higher near holidays etc etc etc.

I was wondering why I saw the occasional Maersk container hanging out for a month in the parking lot of one of my local Walmarts...

Thanks for the info, everyone. If I like what I'll be doing, I'll likely switch to the full-time position, or I'll go tanker. I'm going to need that specialized hauling experience in regards to the latter for what I have planned.
