Hey guys, I got a problem with a truck in my fleet, I was wondering if anyone ever went thru this? So we got a 2015 Volvo VN with a D13 paired to a ishift, the truck has roughly around 700,000 miles, we bought the truck from DOT, so we do not have the full service records of it! Basically the truck runs great when he bobtails, and even when it’s got a light load, but the second the truck hooks up to a heavy load, 35,000lbs+ the truck’s acceleration pedal stops working, even right away when the tractor hooks up to the trailer the acceleration pedal stops working! We at the fleet replaced the main engine harness, we replaced the speed sensor on the transmission, we replaced the leveling valve in the back, checked over everything, there’s no codes. Now the funny part, after a couple times of turning the truck on and off, on and off, the acceleration pedal starts working, it runs fine! Then we the driver comes to a stop or red light with the heavy load the pedal stops working again! The driver has been recently turning it off and on and offf and on, but he found a small hack, he would dump the air out of the air bags, lower them, and the acceleration pedal starts working! Then he raises them and drives off? Does anyone have a clue what this could be?

Do you get L(limp) instead of D(drive) on the dash board when the truck stops moving? It looks like your clutch is starting to go bad. Mine has been doing same thing lately. I hear it's couple thousand dollars job at the dealership.

Apparently nothing pops up on the dash board, the truck just won’t accelerate, and even if you turn the truck off and on like 5 times the pedal still does not work, untill you lower the rear suspension, then it starts to work again!

It usually doesn’t pop up. Instead of usual small D(drive), R(reverse), N(neutral),M(manual you get L(limp). A lot of drivers do not pay attention to that letter on the dashboard most of the time.

Check the fuel pedal sensor, fly by wire might have to be reprogrammed, make sure your air bags are the correct height,
