Ouch, I got rolling after a week. Found a cheap hotel which means I only have about $350 to be reimbursed.

I’d be touching base with the office about it.

Having worked Back Office Accounting and Auditing for years before coming to trucking, there are many ways for a Company Office to cover that bill without reimbursing an employee out of pocket. But that’s up to you and if you can float that loan or not.

As for coffee, I used to drink Truck Stop coffee and thought Pilot Coffee was pretty good… well, with lots of creamer and flavors… lol

But I picked up a $30 AeroPress and now I make fresh ground coffee in the Cab each and every morning and it’s awesome… very good fresh coffee and very very little cleanup. Just boil water in the microwave and clean up is just a little puck of wet grounds in the trash and wipe clean with a paper towel if needed.

so simple, so minimalist, so good.

    I highly recommend the AeroPress
… oh one can do a V60 pour over too.

    ya, I’m a spoiled driver… lol

I got a coffee maker in the truck. It ain't some fancy-schmancy French Press tho. Just a basic Mr. Coffee 5-cup drip coffee maker. Load it up every night before bed, turn it on next morning as soon as the alarm goes off. Best $15 I ever spent.

I'm just surprised they haven't sent someone around to pick you up.

Giving my new dm this week, and that's it,this is the only company I know of where you can get a pay raise and make less than what you were making before it.

They floated that as a possibility last week, but nothing ever came of it.

For part of when I was OTR, I spent a year living in the truck. A couple times the truck had to go to a dealer for a decent chunk of days. Dispatch said either I get a ride to a loaner truck, or they're not paying breakdown or hotel. They seemed personally insulted that I didn't accept any rides. Basically all of my time OTR whether I had a traditional home or not, I looked at breakdowns as unscheduled hometime or unpaid vacation.

But I usually wouldn't start off telling that to dispatch. Because they're gonna pay breakdown and reimburse hotel if they can't arrange a ride!

Got home this morning. Leaving the house at 0500 to go down to Miami and deliver my one cooler. Not looking forward to this delivery, everything that could be wrong with a drop is in my way. The drive down will be the easy part. If I don’t knock the building down, or disable the elevated rail line, I should be done rather quickly, then home until next Thursday.

Haha, the way you describe it, that part of Miami must be modeled after Philadelphia or Chicago.

Miami is horrible driving in. Been like that for as long as I can remember.

So far I've only ever been on the outskirts, so the only bad part I've experienced is the traffic and construction.

Before I came to Abilene, my OTR job description might as well have been "47 states." Never any Florida!
