Lots of work for owner operators. A tandem truck pulling a triaxle flat deck delivering dry mud to drilling rigs can make around $120.00 an hour after brokerage. Depending on who you work for. 300 hours a month or more if you want it.

Bear in mind if you want to go O/O in the patch that oil companies typically pay in 90 to 120 days so it's not hard to run up a $30,000+ fuel bill on top of regular expenses (truck payment, mortgage, utilities, groceries, etc) while waiting for that first paycheque.

I'll pay you in 30 or less. 10% brokerage. Trucks are making 65 to 70k last two months. That's truck and trailer. Tri drive tractor With a Tri axle tank. We are flat out, balls to the wall, hair straight back. It busier than 2005. Rigs everywhere. And it's not even winter yet.

Your are correct though. If you work direct. There are lots of companies hiring trucks, taking a small percentage if the revenue and paying the owner ops in 30. It would be very tough to start up otherwise. There are a couple of outfits that will provide up to 50k in start up cost to help you get into a unit. Look up energetic services in Edson Albera.
