I'm getting back into driving soon. But this time I plan on doing flatbed rather than Dry Van. Does anyone on here drive for them in the Flatbed Division, preferably in the Northeast Region? I spoke to a recruiter today and he said that they would get me home by Friday evening each week. He then went on to tell me that the drivers are paid $200 a day until they reach 1500 miles. Then the pay is .50 per mile. He said the average for the NE Region is about 2200 miles but at the minimum I'm guaranteed $900 for the week. Can any W.E. Regional Flatbed drivers confirm this?
I just don't wanna waste my time if its all BS. He was trying to rush me into going to orientation. I'm not new to all this, so I want it all in writing before I go to orientation and commit to the 9 months I will have to stay with them. Any info about how they run the flatbed guys in the NE region would be much appreciated.

A girl I was in orientation with is running NE regional. Last week she only got about 400 miles. Maybe because it's it's winter I don't know, but she is about to quit.

    1. NorthEast Region flat SUCKS for flatbed unless you drive for one of the carriers based out of that region. I know, I drive for Builder's and have done an unfortunate amount of New England. Plenty of freight going in, nothing coming out.

    2. Western Express recruiters are only vaguely familiar with the concept of "truth". They believe it is a myth spread by people who see through their lies. They can and will say absolutely anything to get you to orientation, and verify absolutely nothing. If a Western Express recruiter tells you today is Thursday, you better have two calendars and an astronomer to verify the claim.

Seriously, there are far better training companies that will actually PAY you what they claim. Do some more looking around before you drink the Western Express Kool Aid, please.

I got you, I have another option with us xpress but they pay 33 cents per mile and average 2000 miles a week. So the pay isn't better than western, from what I was told by the western recruiter. Also is western pretty much auto shift now

I think it's getting to be all auto. I just got my truck in December. 2016 Freightliner automatic. The girl I was talking about got the same. I love the automatic.

Do u run flat bed or van. I honestly was thinking about running van for western. If you do t mind me asking on average do u think I will get the 1500 miles a week to get the minimum $900 a week. Or should I go van 1800 miles minimum $800 a week. And how often would I go in nyc @Spreadneck

I'm flatbed. 1500 miles won't get you 900 a week. I've never been into actual NYC. Been through it several times on i95.

So the recruiter basically lies about the money?
