Sure is a lot of talk about black boxes lately. It's obvious this is the wave of the future and I have a lot of mixed feelings about the whole thing. On one hand, carriers won't be able to threaten drivers into HOS violations and will just have to bring scheduling in line with reality. Salt Lake to Omaha in 11 hours just won't fly unless they turn the governors up past 100 mph and I wouldn't count on that escaping the notice of Robocop either. I also think paper logs will eventually become a memory for us all. All in all, I hope these things are benefical to good, honest companies and drivers and the death knell for the rest.

On the other hand, and call me paranoid if you want, I don't trust any government agency to play nice with all these electronic big brother gadgets without very strict oversight, but whose gonna watch the watchers? I have an idea! how about an oversight commitee made up of the CEOs of JB Hunt, CR England, Swift and Covenant? Wow! I feel safer already!

There are problems with the boxes working right, and I ,for one, won't stand for being blamed if the darn thing goes on the blink, as of now, I would refuse a job at a company that writes you up if your logs don't match the device.

I feel that is kind of a violation of privacy. the black boxes on airplanes record what is said in the ####pit. Who is to say they wont make it record what you say when you are on the phone or whatever as well as everything that goes through your tattle tell? That to me is a little unsettling. I dunno maybe I'm just crazy!:blah5:

I want to apologize for my slip up and apologize if I insulted anyone. It was not my intention.

Exactly my point. We can like or hate it. Either way, we're gonna get it.

Well, you just can't have any letters where a censored bad word would be.

    No biggie.
