I don't think any rental outfit could rent you one without the cdl. You may find a trucking company that will rent you one but I doubt it. This is the very reason truck driving schools exist. Unless you know someone who owns trucks you can't find one to get a license
-
Well, the neighbor next door told me that there are companies that rent the truck to you once you have the permit so you can get the license. He has seen some advertisement close to the driver's license place.
-
There are alot of companies that will rent trucks but you have to already have your cdl to rent them. A permit isn't going to be enough. Also it is very expensive to rent them.
-
you might need a "co-signer" for the truck. you know, a "licensed" driver who will be with you, and accept responsibility for your actions. on a learners permit, beit a car or big rig, you need a locensed driver to go along with you in the same vehicle.
the only "exceptions" to a driver being in the same vehicle with you, as i know it to be, is a motorcycle learners permit. then, you need an experienced rider to be riding near you for your time on the bike. at least in MY state.
so, be prepared to pay for everything, be unprepared for your friend to kick the crap outta you if you crash, as that crash will be reported on his license..........a "sticky situation" for you........... -
I know a ryder rental contract stats that you and ONLY you can operate the vehicle. so geting someone else to rent it potentially sets them up for a masty law suit if anything were to happen

long gone are the days before the darned CDL. -
Well, I found a guy in Weatherford that will teach me how to use his truck and will let me use it for the CDL driving test. I have an appointment at 1pm Sunday in order to get a feel for his truck and practice the test. Hopefully by mid week I will have my CDL class A. $375 is all it is. Alot cheaper then $3-6k.
