I left out that I live in Niceville, FL. If you must know exactly, the infraction was rolling a stop sign at a RR crossing. In this particular case I don't agree with it at all, the sign was completely concealed, not to mention that a tractor trailer is required to stop before the tracks because there was not enough room to stop AT the sign without leaving the vehicle parked on the tracks. All the local officer saw was me rolling a stop sign. Once I was rolling over tracks and into cross travel lanes, I proceeded across. No other traffic in sight, he was sitting there like he was expecting me, or the next sorry soul to roll through. I declined a good load to stick around and physically appear in the local municipal court. No details were in their computer so I would have to request to appeal, receive a court date, return to Plainview, TX (1,200 miles away) just for the CHANCE to fight it, but not guarantee to get me off. It would cost me 5x more to travel and fight the charge. I had no option but to pay the find and plead no contest. Had I known I would be fired for it and it would be impossible to get in with another company maybe I would have handled it differently. In any case, this is how it is. I'm just looking for options. I know I'm not the only person to receive a citation in this industry.

My local DM and Safety guy tried everything they could and tried to fight for them to make an exception because I have done well with them. Unfortunately, corporate in Phoenix stuck to the 6 month rule and let me go.

This is the only citation on my otherwise perfect record. I know SOMEONE will hire me, just got to find who. So if you you have any suggestions or know first hand of any carriers that are willing to look past 1 moving violation, please, post up... otherwise, I wasn't asking for your thoughts.

    Thanks.

Must not have been important enough.

Rule says no tickets in first 6 months.
    Law says "Stop".

Trust me....the lights will come on, whether you're sitting on the track or not.

I realize that you "shouldn't" be stopping on a train track. But it is unavoidable at times. Especially in TX.

I run a little back woods route that requires me to stop ON the track. You simply can't see oncoming traffic from the left or right, from behind the track.

Well I did what I thought was "right". I did not endanger anyone and someone pissed in the officer's cheerios on that particular morning. I'm just hoping someone can see past that and the fact that I was terminated for it and allow me to work. I would not have been terminated for it had I been with the company for another 30 days give or take. Oh well, it is what it is... trying not to let this keep me down and out.

Lot of carriers wont hire out of FL,might be the reason you're getting turned down.Google FL. trucking co.s and hit the phone or the bricks.Take what you can get and put in another 6mos.With a yr. exp. and no more tickets, your options will open up.These days you get a ticket for anything, you better hire a local lawyer and fight it.

Some what true but not 100% true,Raven,Suntate and May Trucking hire a lot from Florida, also he along the I-10 in panhandle of Florida and that's a pretty good area for companies. Most carriers don't hire anyone from Florida OR only hire drivers from north Florida north of I-4,maybe Tampa Bay but that's about it.Any Florida base trucking company will hire a driver pretty much form any where in Florida.

I'm right on I-10. I've never been turned down due to location. I have submitted my info to may and spoke with a recruiter. I was hoping for other options but like you said, I will probably just take what I get for now. still keeping my hopes up that something better will come about. As much as everyone bashes Knight and I despise them at the moment... I made out $800-1000 weekly gross and home time was excellent 14/7. No one else I have found has anything quite like it that is close enough to home.

Thanks for the Suggestions. I have all ready submitted my app with May, I am curious about Raven before I start pursuing it further. Doing a little research. I appreciate the help. Also I figure if worse comes to worse, I can probably get back on with WERNER since I drove for them with no issues for about a year but :biggrin_2559:... we all know how that is.

I think Raven would be the best choice, they are not a real big company and what I have heard and seen they hire from Florida.I see there trucks a lot here in south west Florida.

I don't know how their situation is at the moment. Reading some older threads there was a applicant waiting list. I am also just a couple months shy of 2yrs OTR w/ a recent violation. I definitely sent them an app and will follow it up with a call shortly. I will remain optimistic but at the same time, not getting too excited just yet.

    Thanks again
