Ok so final update I guess. When we removed the valve cover. We realized that the head had been changed sometime in the past before I bought the truck. But everything we touched was loose. Hence the injectors were loose. They were moving up and down in the head, although the movement was small it was enough to loose fuel pressure and compression from the cylinders. I went ahead and changed all six injectors. Saw some minor marks on the head where the injectors sit but nothing grave. We feel confident the new injector cups, the one that goes on the tip of the injector and is made out of copper, will seal fine now that we torqued everything down to spec. Test drove the crap out of the truck and it’s fine. Hopefully it last long enough to work the truck and make back the money I’ve spent before I have to worry about changing the head. Aging no gouging or scratching happened to the head from what we could see but there was some small marks or change in bare metal color.

    QUALITYTRUCK Thanks this.

I think your referring to the copper washer, not injector cups.

So hows the truck treating ya. Any new problems?

10/2023-Been having the same issues as posted above, ISX 550, Tons of $$$$$, and still not fixed, Getting fuel rail pressure code, loss of throttle, I don't hear turbo/injector whistle, motor starving for fuel, Dealer changed 2 parts, they said the cause was old rubber from fuel lines, a few months later the same issues, a friend mechanic changed one part, Sorry not a mechanic so not sure of the parts, I know once the fuel filter is changed and I add diesel fuel additive it clears up for a few months. The last fuel filter I changed I saw very little black particles in the fuel. The injectors, fuel pump, and turbo have not been replaced yet, I think the check valve and pressure shutoff valve were replaced, and 2 other parts replaced, It does seem to act up more under a heavy load, not sure if that is a coincident
