It's not the drivers job to do this. It's his personal responsibility. It's the companies job to inspect the truck thoroughly before it hits the road. Don't let the company make you believe otherwise. It's their trucks, not the drivers.
Companies will TRY to put their responsibilities on the drivers. And many times new drivers will "comply" and accept that. Mainly because they're new. All companies have people that work on their trucks. Keep in mind, it's THEIR trucks. Not the drivers.
Don't get me wrong, I've alway made sure the truck I was driving was in good shape before I ever took a load. Mostly just to get an idea of the company I was going to be working for. If they didn't take care of their trucks, they probably didn't take care of their drivers....

Agreed! Most companies don't give brand new trucks to those just coming on board with them unless you have years and years of experiece. Even then you should have the truck
checked out unless it is brand spanking new! -
Exactly!!!! Most companies don't give the good stuff when you are first employed with them unless you have years and years of experience and even then you
should have the truck checked out unless it is brand spanking new. -
Result; The corporations can and are getting away with anything and everything in their favor, including what you have just read in the first poster's story.
And unfortunately, things are going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better. -
