GAS $10 a GALLON??

I'll stick with this set up, 45mpg average, pulls trailer 70 mph if you're that brave. This one cost me $2300 & looked like new when I got it. The trailer cost me $500 to build & I've pulled it over 6000 miles now with no problems. Also doesn't have to wait in ferry line -see Port Aransas. org - saves a lot of time when lines are long.

Do y'all suppose we're actually nearing the end of petroleum supply?

I remember reading an article in a magazine shortly before the turn of the millennium that was talking about what things would be like in the year 2020. In that article it made mention of gas being over $10/gal. and electric cars being all that most people would be driving.

I realize that this article was just someone's opinion of what it might be like, but I wonder if the author wasn't on to something. The article was written in a very interesting way. It described the normal daily routine of a typical (read: not an OTR truck driver) American's day beginning from waking up and having a bowl of cereal and the refrigerator automatically ordering another gallon of milk and orange juice via an internet connection and weight sensors on the shelves, and ending with the character in the article programming his personal assistant robot to wake him up the next morning with coffee. In one part of the article, the character was deciding whether to take his electric car or his "vintage" '98 Vette to work and since gas cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $12-$14/gal, he opted for the electric car. The reason given for gas being as high as it was in the article was that oil reserves were almost completely used up.

Like I said, I'm sure nothing in the article was based on any facts but it does get me to thinking with the current fuel/gas price hikes. Do y'all realize it's gone up over $1/gal just since the first part of February???

Nope, just watched the Governor of Montana give an interview. The technology is in place to make synthetic oil from coal at $55 a barrel. Our military uses this tech now.

Problem.... what's the CARB Tax going to be?

This gives you a better insight to see the enemies within this country...namely Al Gore and his followers.

The tech has been in place since the 80's. It was crushed when OPEC dropped the price of oil from $30+ a barrel, to $8 a barrel.

We have a 200 year supply, based on current usage, and coal contained WITHIN the US borders

I got through about half of it. I'll pick up where I left off later. There's a lot of educational material there and, even though I'm a conservative, I have a hard time comprehending the reason it takes that much money to operate the oil industry. Financial matters are far from being my forte.

 

But how long before we could start utilizing this 200 year supply in our fuel tanks and furnaces?

 

they are sitting on 200-300 yrs supply in alaska according to a guest on "coast to coast AM" how true it is..........
