I have no experience in heavy hauling of any sorts does anyone have any pointers that they can share or does anyone know of anyone and/or companies that would give me a chance and train me in heavy hauling or even flatbed I've been driving Cdl vehicles for years driving dry vans and reefers I want to get into flatbed and/or heavy hauling in the Houston or Dallas section

Hey Straightfocus, you should start with one of the bigger company's that have a short training program as usual they'll be some dues to pay on your way up . Pullin reg flat isn't to difficult to pickup, just use common sense and don't be afraid to ask questions.
You can haul a lot of small oversize on a flat. Keep your record clean, be careful, and most important don't exceed your skill level!!! and don't let someone push you skill wise. Most company's will notice if your worth investing some trust into, and then just work your way up.
Really should be some kind of training course but there isn't, to my knowledge anyway, just school of hard knocks, that's why you want to take baby steps. Mistake are EXPENSIVE AND DANGEROUS.
Good luck and feel free to ask away. There are no dumb questions!!!

Lone Star Transportation LLC out of Ft Worth has a yard in Houston. They are a great company. But you must be willing it stay out. But if you live in Houston or Dallas you may get through their quiet often. They will teach you in Houston how to do flatbed and will start you off slow. then work your way up to HH.
Good luck and remenber Flatbed is hard work but lots of fun..

You do know that those guys had to start way down at the bottom, in the little legends cars, a bunch of circle track and dirt track racing for years and years before they got to NASCAR, right? If you don't have any experience, you need to go to an entry level flatbed company and learn the basics.

"Well, why don't they just let me learn at Talledega next to Danica?"

Because you will just wind up killing someone or getting yourself severely injured or killed. The goal is to be good at what you do. And you can't be good at anything without a good understanding of the basics. No Danica for you.
