My firswas in February of 2005. I got a volvo that i think was an 02. Anyways it had well under 500,000 miles. I had to catch a ride with a driver in nashville and go recover it from a dealership shop in Allentown PA. It had broken down then the driver left the company or something so it had not been cleaned out at all. Was pretty dirty on the surface on the inside. Got it back home in Tennessee a couple of days later and went through and really gave it a good cleaning on the inside and found out it was actually a pretty decent truck. I had a couple of problems while i had it but overall it was a pretty nice intro to the trucking world. My trainer had a brand new Columbia and it was new and clean and nice but when I switched out and got in my own Volvo the difference in ride quality was just amazing. After i left that company I went to Falcon Transport and got a lesson in crappy equipment that is never cleaned and not taken care of very well.I was there for a year on a dedicated route and it takes 2 hands to count the number of trucks they put me in and out of and I can think of 2 that were not trashy and only one of those was what you could call nice and I didnt even get to keep it for very long. One thing is for sure, you will never forget that first truck. I will remember that driver dropping me off at that dealership that day and realizing i was all alone several hundred miles from home for as long as i live. It was a cool adventure though looking back on it.

I got lucky. And I didnt expect too. I got a 2007 KW t600. When I got it, it had only 206K miles on it. I was expecting to get a truck with 400K+. Also never expected to get a truck with an APU right out of the gate. :biggrin_25520:

My first truck was a 2003 Volvo that had apparently been in a wreck right before it was given to me. I test drove it and had to keep the steering wheel turned all the way to the left to keep the tractor going straight. Then it wouldn't start back up after I parked it. Suffice to say I called my new company up and told them there was no way I was taking that.
Luckily another company driver quit 3 days later and abandoned his truck about 5 miles from where I lived. I was called in the middle of the night to pick it up. And lucky me, it was a 2004 Freightliner with 350,000 miles on it and it ran great. Think this was in 2006.
