    although I’ll take a risk on the stock 18gauge wires since I’m not always running full blast 24/7, I need to install an amp because the head unit won’t power the 3 ohm Infinity Ref speakers. HU cuts out when volume is increased, I’ve checked the ground and power they work and are good, it’s just the built in IC on the HU is rated only at 4-8 ohms.

    Wow, i rescind my statement about existing wires probably being good, my trucks stock wires are 14 going to the sleeper and 16 going to speakers on runs less than 5 feet in the cab.

    Consider a better headunit though? That might even be a more cost effective way of doing it... a thought

    Those QSC powered speakers work really well. I worked with a guy doing DJ and karaoke work. I had Peavey and JBL speakers with Peavey amps and he used some QSC powered speakers. They worked well, always sounded good and were alot easier to tote around than all the speakers and amps I used.
