Unfortunately this radar device is in the next gen as a standard and nobody notified me before ordering the truck. Just returned from kw dealership and that’s what they said. They were able to kill the sound 30% but still it will be hard for me to sleep while my hubby take the wheel. I have myself 2016 up for sale.

Please provide solid info about it, cuz I am fighting this piece of crap. Nobody talks about it and nobody informed me about it too on the day when I was making order in March. Today dealership says it’s a standard equipment and cannot be disconnected. BTW, I have still my 2016 up for sale and trading isn’t an option as I lease new one.... approval issue etc Cheers

I appreciate your frustration, but you messed up (as did I with a different option I now wished I had speced on my own T680). And apparently there's no going back on the collision avoidance/lane departure device. If originally installed at assembly, its presence is thereafter permanently registered to the VIN information of the truck (I.E. Kenworth will not allow you to remove it, although I have read reports of drivers disabling it themselves with varying levels of success).

Tuesday I pickup a next gen 680 that was spec’d without it. I’ll report back my findings

Still not many on the road and I had no chance to take pictures, but I saw a few pass by with the misaligned and missing pieces of the fairing. The last one had the black plastics missing around the fuel tank. They just pop in and it's wear out in no time. Like on the original 680 between the steps. Only now they have a bunch of small pieces all around. It's ridiculous.

Gawd, don’t say that. Was supposed to have the first one start this week but driver picked up covid. 2nd one will probably start next week or week after.

Those aero trims on the bottom of the side fairings will be the first to go. The older style used a more flexible rubber this ones stiffer, lower, and mounted different that makes it easier to get torn off. I’ve seen brand new ones not even 6 months old already has one on its way out. My advice I’m not sure how it’s mounted but honestly remove them and store them and put them back on when you decide to sell the truck.

I hope you will have good luck with them and this is more annoyance what no one would expect with a new truck, than serious problem. Be prepared with rivets and glue and secure when it get loose. Do not wait to loose them. Unfortunately I need them to keep together the old style fairings as well.
