The loop should keep you far enough away from town. @Banker

265 east around downtown appears to be an option but not sure how far out of downtown the protesting will extend

Well, honestly, from Cinci, you shouldn't have any problems at all.
The bypass runs far around the city and dumps into 65 south.
    I wouldn't worry a bit.
On the other hand, if I were coming out of Indy, I might be concerned.
That said, if you take the bypass, you shouldn't have any problems. You'll pick up about 10 miles or so, but you should be far away from the drama.

My guess is 265 would be ok. Going through Lexington to the Bluegrass Pkwy to Elizabethtown wouldn’t add much time and you could avoid Louisville altogether. When 71 is messed up I go through Lexington and it only adds 30 minutes versus 71 smooth sailing. Going on south to Nashville it probably would add 20 minutes or so to the total trip.
