    Good evening

New to this forum. Just picked up a 81' 359 with a BC3 with manual steering and a 72" steering wheel. Im looking to put power steering on it. I got a boat load of parts with it including a ZF 7673599320 PS pump and reservoir . Im looking for a steering box compatible with this pump. If any one has any input on this or is familiar with the pump I'm looking to rebuild that as well before installing it.

    Thanks in advance.

    John

Used steering boxes from the bone yard are questionable and hard to find. That should be a good core, pitman arm and possibly mounting adaptor. If anyone can give you a serial number of a sister truck you maybe able to get one from the dealer.
I would be a lot more concerned about a steering box compatible with the truck. Then do you need a bypass hose off the pump?

    project359 Thanks this.

I did put a steering box off a cabover Freightliner on a 4000 White once. Things are possible but not easy.
Best to find a bolt on.
I recently bought a reman box from heavy truck parts supplier. It was $400 dollars less than the dealer. The core charge was $650 dollars. You could likely buy an out right reman for around $1600.
The pitman arm, steering shaft and drag link may not be the same.
Best to find a pull off even if the box is just a core.

Or find the exact same truck, even if it is in the scrapyard, same year, model, and axle weight, that has power steering, and buy the box by the vin #.

Thank Dino. I’m searching local yards now to see who has anything laying around.
